India vs Zimbabwe: Mayank Yadav Returns After 2 Years As BCCI Names 15-member Squad For 3-Match T20 Series

India vs Zimbabwe: Team India has named a 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Zimbabwe, which starts from 23rd July at the Harare sports ground.

The squad sees a drastic makeover from the one that is currently competing against England. Perhaps the biggest shift is dropping Sanju Samson, who did not find his place in the team after a string of poor performances.

Besides Samson, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Harshit Rana, Arshdeep Singh, and Prasidh Krishna have also been left out. Ashok Sharma & Yash Thakur have earned their maiden India call-ups. On the other hand, Rinku Singh, who last played for India during the World Cup, also makes a return after missing out on the Ireland and England tour.

Mayank Yadav, LSG’s 11 cr express pacer, who was on the sidelines battling constant injuries, also makes a return to the side after 2024. Prabhsimran Singh, who was a part of the squad during the 2023 Asian Games, has also been recalled along with Harsh Dubey, who is uncapped in T20Is, to complete the full list.

Golden Opportunity For Prabhsimran, Mayank, Ashok & Yash

Ashok Sharma and Yash Thakur earned call-ups after impressive campaigns in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, finishing with 22 and 18 wickets respectively. Thakur was particularly outstanding, taking 18 wickets in just seven matches at an average of 9.88 and an economy rate of 6.80. Sharma, meanwhile, made his IPL debut for Gujarat Titans, picking up six wickets in six appearances while also delivering the fastest ball of the season at 154.2 kmph. Both pacers were recently part of the India A squad that toured Sri Lanka.

Prabhsimran Singh has also been rewarded for his consistent performances in the IPL. After scoring 579 runs in the 2025 season, he followed it up with 510 runs in 14 matches in 2026 at an average of 42.50 and a strike rate of 168.87. However, with Ishan Kishan included in the squad, Prabhsimran is expected to be the backup wicketkeeper.

Mayank Yadav, meanwhile, returns to the national setup for the first time since 2024 after a prolonged injury layoff. The express pacer missed the start of IPL 2025 before being ruled out midway through the tournament. He made his comeback earlier this year, representing India A in a T20 World Cup warm-up match against the USA, and later featured in four IPL games in 2026, although he finished without taking a wicket.
