Just when fans thought the Hera Pheri 3 saga couldn’t get any more dramatic, a fresh legal twist has surfaced. Akshay Kumar’s production house, Cape of Good Films LLP, has issued a public notice that has caught the attention of the film industry. The notice, published in a trade magazine, makes significant assertions regarding the much-awaited comedy while addressing distributors, exhibitors, OTT platforms, broadcasters and other stakeholders. Although the statement did not provide details of the broader dispute, it contains a clear warning for those dealing with the parties claiming rights to the film, indicating that a resolution to the controversy remains a long way off.

Akshay Kumar’s production house has issued a public notice in the July 4, 2026 edition of Complete Cinema magazine, declaring that it is the sole and exclusive holder of an “irrevocable, worldwide, perpetual and unencumbered licence” for Hera Pheri 3. According to the notification, the company holds the rights to produce, distribute, market, utilize, and commercially exploit the film across all media, platforms, technologies, and formats, including systems that may be developed in the future.

The notice has been addressed not only to the general public but also to stakeholders across the Indian film trade, including distributors, exhibitors, cinema chains, OTT and streaming platforms, television broadcasters, digital platforms, advertisers, licensors, licensees, aggregators and syndicators.

Production house warns against unauthorised third-party dealings

Through the notice, the production house has urged all individuals and organisations to recognise and respect its claimed rights over  . It has also cautioned members of the entertainment industry against entering into any arrangement, transaction, negotiation, representation or other dealings with any third party claiming rights related to the film without obtaining prior written authorisation from the company.

The production house further stated that anyone acting contrary to the notice would do so entirely at their own risk. It added that Cape of Good Films LLP reserves all rights and legal remedies available under law and equity in the event of any violation of its claimed interests.

Is Hera Pheri 3 Happening?

Hera Pheri 3 continues to face an uncertain future amid ongoing legal disputes surrounding the franchise. The project has been stalled for months, with director   recently confirming his exit during an interview, citing unresolved legal and rights-related issues. Akshay Kumar has also stated that the much-awaited sequel is not currently in production. The latest public notice from Cape of Good Films LLP adds another chapter to the film’s legal saga, indicating that the battle over its rights is far from over.
