Trump’s decision on tariff is shocking because China of Russian oil is a bigger buyer than India. Customs figures show that China imported 109 million tonnes of oil from Russia in 2024, which is about 20 percent of its total energy imports. At the same time, India imported 88 million tonnes of Russian oil.
Trump gave 90 days’ time implementing China and was seen against China in his rhetoric but was strict against India. Now the question arises that why is Trump’s attitude soft for China and strict for India?

America and China are big economies. Both countries trade with you on a large scale. American companies buy huge amount of raw materials from China. It has many companies including Apple, Walmart and GM. Putting more pressure on China, inflation can dominate both the market and the consumer. If this happens, America will also be badly affected.
China is considered the king of manufacturing. Due to the high population, it prepares products at a low price. America imports cheap products from China. In such a situation, a wrong decision of Trump can break the entire supply chain. American companies’ investment in China on a large scale is also a reason for softening.

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has warned that if the US bans China for Russian oil, then prices may increase in the energy sector.
