Actor Barun Sobti has spoken candidly about his mental health journey, revealing that he was diagnosed with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) after recognising several signs in his own behaviour. During the season finale of Be A Man, Yaar! Season 3, the actor opened up about living with ADHD and anxiety, sharing how certain patterns that had been present since childhood eventually prompted him to seek professional help. Sobti also addressed the stigma surrounding mental health, urging people to be more open about their struggles and reminding them that seeking support should never be viewed as a sign of weakness.

Recalling the experience, Barun said that when he met a therapist, the professional jokingly asked how he had already figured out that he had ADHD before receiving a formal diagnosis. Explaining what led him to seek help, the actor pointed to several signs that had been a part of his daily life for years. “My legs are always moving. I cannot concentrate on one conversation that doesn’t interest me. I have to move constantly. I cannot sleep. I have anxiety issues,” said Barun.

According to Barun, these symptoms made him realise that something more than simple restlessness was at play. Looking back at his childhood, he recognised that many of these traits had always been present. He recalled being described as a hyperactive child by his mother, although awareness about ADHD was far more limited during those years.

The actor noted that while his behaviour was often attributed to being energetic or restless, there was little understanding at the time about conditions such as ADHD and how they can manifest in children and adults.

Beyond discussing his own diagnosis, Barun also talked about the challenges many people face when it comes to addressing mental health concerns. He said one of the biggest obstacles is the fear of judgment and the social stigma attached to seeking professional support.
