Sri Lanka and India will commence a three-match Under19 men’s ODI series at the Mahinda Rajapaksa Cricket Stadium, Hambantota from today.

Sri Lanka will be led by Vimath Dinsara of Royal College, Colombo, a top order batsman who captained Sri Lanka in the Under19 World Cup in Zimbabwe early this year. Dinsara will have Kavija Gamage, all-rounder from Kingswood College, Kandy as his deputy.

Yashbardhan Singh Chauhan will lead the India U19 team for the ODI as well as the multi-format series. The Indian U19 captain comes with a reputation of having amassed large scores in junior cricket. As a 13-year-old, he scored 425 off 248 balls and 235 off 166 balls in the Under-13 inter-divisional AW Kanmadikar Trophy and followed it up with an impressive 391 runs. At 17, he completed his Class 12 exams, balancing his academic commitments with an emerging cricket career.

Today’s game will be followed by the second and third ODIs on 6 and 9 July at the same venue. Following the completion of the ODI series the two teams will play two four-day games at Galle Cricket Stadium from 13-16 July and at the R Premadasa Cricket Stadium from 20-23 July.
