Shah Rukh Khan and Mannat’s connection goes way back. The actor became the owner of the house in 2001, and since then, he has been living there with his family until recently, when the renovation work started.
Before 2001, Shah Rukh Khan used to live in a 4BHK sea-facing apartment in the Shree Amrit Society on Carter Road, Bandra. As per a report, the apartment is also currently under renovation, and SRK will be getting 155 per cent extra space after the renovation.
All about SRK’s first Mumbai flat renovation
As per the report, the redevelopment project that kicked off in June will hand over a 4BHK flat to Shah Rukh Khan by 2027. The apartment will be larger, offering a 155% increase in space and covering nearly 2,800 sq. ft. As reported by Hindustan Times, the developer plans to price the redeveloped flats at around Rs 1.50 lakh per sq. ft. Going by that estimate, Shah Rukh’s new property could carry a market value of close to Rs 42 crore.
Vikram Modi, a real estate consultant from Mumbai’s Juhu area, told the same news portal, “If your building has a good sea-facing view or sea view, you can get double or more than double the additional area after redevelopment. However, if the location is weak or average, there are transactions where existing residents get around 20% to 50% additional area.”
Earlier this year, Shah Rukh Khan, along with his wife Gauri and their children – Aryan, Suhana, and AbRam – shifted out of their iconic home, Mannat. The sea-facing bungalow at Bandra Bandstand, spread across 27,000 sq. ft. and valued at around Rs 2,000 crore, is currently under repair and renovation.
In the meantime, the Khans have rented two plush duplex apartments in Puja Casa, Pali Hill, Bandra. The homes, located across the first, second, seventh, and eighth floors, are worth Rs 8.57 crore. While the lease is for three years, the family is expected to stay there for at least two years until all permissions for Mannat’s renovation are secured.
