Camera upgrades

Coming to the main aspect, the camera. The Reno 15 uses an 8MP ultrawide camera, while the Reno 16 replaces it with a higher-resolution 50MP ultrawide sensor featuring an f/2.0 aperture, autofocus support and a 116-degree field of view. This means you will get to take better landscapes and group pictures with your loved ones.
The primary and telephoto cameras remain unchanged between the two generations. Both devices feature a 50MP main camera with optical image stabilisation and a 50MP telephoto lens capable of 3.5x optical zoom. Selfie hardware also remains the same, with both smartphones using a 50MP front-facing camera equipped with autofocus.
Performance and software
The Oppo Reno 16 gets a new MediaTek Dimensity 8550 processor clocked at up to 3.35GHz. The Reno 15, on the other hand, relies on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 platform with clock speeds reaching 2.8GHz.
According to benchmark data (claimed by the company), the Reno 16 delivers around 49 percent higher AnTuTu scores and approximately 27 percent better Geekbench 6 single-core performance. This means that the device will offer quicker app launches, smoother multi-tasking and improved gaming performance. The Reno 16 also ships with Android 16-based ColorOS out of the box with slew of AI features.
Battery and charging
You will not see some big changes here. The newer model houses a 6,700mAh battery, compared to the 6,500mAh unit found in the Reno 15. Both devices support 80W fast wired charging, ensuring rapid top-ups.
However, the Reno 16 got a feature that was absent on the Reno 15: 50W wireless charging support. The users will finally be able to charge their device via wireless chargers at higher speeds.
