At present, the Toyota Fortuner’s price ranges between Rs 41.63 lakh and Rs 63.47 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). Now, with the new gen of this SUV, it will get a host of changes inside and out, and Toyota, being Toyota, might not marginally increase the price, but might make it more expensive. According to us, the new-generation Toyota Fortuner could be priced between Rs 44 lakh and Rs 66 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) – that is, around Rs 2 lakh more than the current model. But is the upgrade worth that money? Let’s have a look at all the things we expect from the new model.

So far, Toyota hasn’t revealed anything about the launch of this new model. However, as the new generation Hilux is set to launch this month, we can expect the updated Fortuner to launch by late 2026 or early 2027.

Firstly, the new model will boast several design changes – a bit more modern while retaining its rugged characteristics. The design cues of the new Fortuner will be inspired by the upcoming new-gen Hilux, which was spotted some time ago. At the front, it gets a new fascia with a hexagonal grille and a new lighting setup. The rear gets C-shaped taillamps with integrated DRLs, which look classy, while the rear chunky bumpers increase its ruggedness. Along with that, we also expect the SUV to get new colour options added.

On the inside, the Toyota Fortuner will feature a new dashboard layout, a new steering wheel, and several additional features. On the feature front, the SUV is expected to get a new 12.3-inch infotainment screen, 9-inch digital instrument cluster, and a panoramic sunroof. It could also get a new, better sound system, or it could start offering the JBL sound system, which is available on the diesel 4×4 variants with other variants too. Other features include a 360-degree camera, ventilated seats, and more.

Powertrain

Toyota will continue to rely on its 2.8-litre diesel engine and 2.7-litre petrol engine. Both these motors will be offered on the next-gen Fortuner, along with a 48V mild-hybrid system on higher diesel variants. Furthermore, the 6-speed MT and 6-speed AT will remain on offer. No major change in the powertrain setup is expected for now.
