Australia opening batter Travis Head launches Aiden Markram for a huge six over the deep-midwicket boundary as he scores a massive hundred in the dead rubber game against South Africa in the last One-day game of the series.
Australian batsman Travis Head has been lagging in form since the IPL 2025; he also could not pull off anything special for Australia in the white-ball games following the conclusion of the IPL. The final ODI against South Africa has probably unleashed his brutal side again.
Though struggling with white-ball cricket, he has been indispensable in the longest format of the game, still playing a crucial hand in the Australian team’s limited success with the bat. Head played a crucial role in Australia’s Test triumph in the Caribbean.

However, ever since his return to white-ball cricket, he has struggled to score runs for Australia in the South Africa home series. He played in the T20I series as well before the ODIs, but forget about his prime form; he looked more like an amateur on the field.
However, despite the sudden dip in form, the Australians have not dropped him, and the backing has borne fruit as Travis Head smashes a swashbuckling ton in the final ODI. Though Australia might have already lost the series, this return to form is a good sign before the India series in October.
Aiden Markram bowled to Head as he tossed up a delivery angling towards the pads of the batter. He swept hard at it, intending to send it out of the park, and obtained the desired result as the ball was seen travelling on to the roof of the stadium.
Australian opening duo return to form with 200+ partnership
The Australian duo of Mitchell Marsh and Travis Head played an unstoppable innings in the final match of the ODI series, as the skipper, alongside the superstar Head, smashed the South African bowlers to all parts of the ground.
They posted a 200+ run partnership for the first wicket, as Head scored his hundred off just 80 balls and wrapped his innings with 142 off just 103 balls. Marsh also finished his hundred before being dismissed off 106 balls.
While the Aussies had so far struggled with the bat in the series, this match marked the return of the Aussies as Cameron Green and Alex Carey also got off to quick starts and took the Aussie total to a mammoth score towards the end of the innings.
South Africa rest frontline bowlers for dead rubber game
South Africans, on the other hand, had already won the two matches in the 3-match series and hence marked the snub of their key bowlers in the series from the Playing XI of the final match. This resulted in the Aussies scoring runs so easily.
Neither bowler, from Kagiso Rabada to Lungi Ngidi, played in the match; even Nandre Burger was not used, while the Proteas’ bowling heavily relied on all-rounders like Bosch and Wiaan Mulder.
