A surprising case has come to light in Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh. After committing thefts from different areas of the city, vicious thieves used to immerse precious jewelery worth lakhs in the Narmada immersion pond. However, after a lot of effort the police caught the thief. The police, trying to solve the ever-increasing incidents of theft, searched about 1000 CCTV footages installed in the city and found clues about the accused who committed these crimes.
In this case, the police caught a vicious thief named Premnath Mallah, living in Patel Nagar of Madhotal police station area. Based on the statements of Mallah, the police detained his minor son and another person and interrogated them strictly. The accused confessed to committing thefts in different areas of the city.
Used to throw jewelery in Bhatoli immersion pond
Police said that regarding the jewelery worth lakhs of rupees stolen in the theft incidents, the accused told that after committing the theft incidents, they used to throw the gold jewelery in the Bhatoli immersion pond of Gauri Ghat area. Fearing that the jewelery was artificial or to escape from the police, the accused used to throw the stolen goods in immersion ponds. Based on the statements of the arrested thieves, the police today reached Bhatauli Kund of Narmada with the accused and conducted a search operation in the pond along with the SDERF team. After several hours of efforts, the team recovered jewelery worth lakhs. To search for the precious gold jewellery, the police and SDERF team conducted a rescue operation just like it is done in case of someone drowning in water.
Police are continuously interrogating
The police are continuously interrogating the arrested accused. Police are confident that other theft incidents will also be exposed through the accused. The police are assuming that there may be more gold ornaments hidden in the immersion pond of Bhatauli. Police and SDERF team are planning to conduct similar rescue operation in future also. During the search, the police and SDERF team have found gold necklaces, bracelets, earrings and other jewelery whose value is said to be in lakhs. Bhatauli immersion pond in Gauri Ghat area of Jabalpur was built for the immersion of Durga idols during Navratri festival and Ganesh idols on the occasion of Ganesh Utsav, but the thieves of Jabalpur used this pond as a means to hide the stolen goods.
