Maharashtra government had allocated Rs 20 crore in the budget.
In fact, after the assembly election results, the Maharashtra government has approved funds to increase the functioning and infrastructure of the Waqf Board. The government had allocated a fund of Rs 20 crore to the State Waqf Board in the budget, out of which the government has ordered to give Rs 10 crore to the Waqf Board. In June, before the elections, the Minority Welfare Department had paid Rs 2 crore to the Waqf Board in Aurangabad and announced that the remaining amount would be paid later.
VHP had protested
Vishwa Hindu Parishad had opposed this. Opposing this move, VHP’s Konkan region secretary Mohan Salekar had said that why is the state government bowing down to Muslims? Why are they appeasing them? This kind of appeasement will not be tolerated. After VHP’s protest, state BJP president Chandrashekhar Bawankule had said that the money allocated by the state government was for the digitization of the Waqf Board. This process was necessary to correct mistakes. This will help in identifying land wrongfully acquired from Hindus and tribals and backward classes. There is no question of appeasement of any community by BJP or the state government. All those accusing the state government should understand the objective and facts.
