The picture of whose government will be formed in Maharashtra is now clear, but who will become the Chief Minister? There is still a problem regarding this. As soon as Mahayuti got full majority in the trends, Eknath Shinde has firmly staked claim for the post of Chief Minister. Shinde has said that who will become the Chief Minister now will be decided in the NDA meeting.
It is being said that Shinde will try to bargain with his 5 bets in the NDA meeting regarding the Chief Minister. If any one of these moves is made then BJP may have to wait to sit on the Chief Minister’s chair.
1. Mandate to the government and CM
The NDA alliance suffered a crushing defeat during the Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra. However, Shinde Sena was successful in winning equal number of seats as BJP. NDA is moving towards a big lead in the assembly elections. Eknath Shinde has also given a statement amid the counting of votes.
Shinde has said that this is a mandate for the government’s work. In such a situation, it is being said that when Shinde will discuss for the post of Chief Minister, he can keep this point firmly. Shinde can argue that if the Chief Minister is changed, Shiv Sena workers will also be hurt and its impact could be bad in future.
In this election, Shinde was helping everyone as soon as he was the Chief Minister. His supporters were continuously saying that his works were better and were demanding mandate in his name.
2. BJP does not have a clear majority
Joe Shinde can make a big bargain for the post of Chief Minister. That is BJP not getting a clear majority. Till now BJP seems to be getting lead on only 120-125 seats. It is now difficult to change more than 5 seats even in the final results.
To form government in Maharashtra, 145 MLAs are required. In 2019, BJP had failed to form the government due to not getting majority.
3. Ajit is not a trustworthy leader
Even though Ajit Pawar is still in NDA, it is difficult to trust him. Since 2019 till now, Ajit has taken U-turn thrice. Ajit Pawar’s ideology also does not match that of BJP. There was tension between Ajit and Devendra Fadnavis during the assembly elections.
Fadnavis had accused Ajit of being with the opponents of Hindutva. During the elections he was openly saying that you should vote for me. The votes I get will not be from BJP.
Eknath Shinde will make this a big issue regarding the post of Chief Minister. Shinde will bargain by saying that Shiv Sena’s ideology is already similar to that of BJP.
4. Seal of two and a half years’ work
Eknath Shinde has also teased the raga of two and a half years. He has said that our work has been approved by the public. Eknath Shinde had contested this election through schemes like Toll Free, Ladki Bahin. When he was the Chief Minister, he had implemented these schemes strongly. In such a situation, Shinde can bargain on this basis also.
Shinde can say that right now the government is running properly. If changes are made in its structure, further problems may increase.
5. Broke the party for BJP
Eknath Shinde rebelled in Shiv Sena only for the Bharatiya Janata Party. During the rebellion in 2022, BJP stood firmly with them. Because of the rebellion, the Uddhav group is still calling him a traitor. During the elections, Shinde got very angry at a worker who called him a traitor.
Shinde can make this an issue in bargaining regarding the post of CM. In 2022, Eknath Shinde rebelled in the 45 year old Shiv Sena. Due to this rebellion, Uddhav also lost the command of Shiv Sena.
