Mirapur By Election Result 2024 LIVE Updates: Close battle on Mirapur assembly seat, counting will start in some time

Voting has taken place for the by-election in Meerapur seat of Muzaffarnagar, one of the 403 assembly seats of Uttar Pradesh. Counting of votes will begin shortly today. RLD’s Chandan Chauhan was elected MLA from this seat in the 2022 assembly elections. Since this time he has become an MP by contesting the Lok Sabha elections, hence by-elections are being held on the seat vacated by him.

In this by-election, a tough contest is expected between SP candidate Sumbul Rana and RLD’s Mithlesh Pal. Earlier, in the 2022 assembly elections, Chandan Chauhan had won the election by 27380 votes on RLD ticket after getting 107421 votes.

RLD-SP fought elections together

However, at that time RLD had contested the elections in alliance with SP. This time the situation has changed. Now RLD is with BJP. At that time, BJP candidate Prashant Chaudhary was in second place by getting a total of 80 thousand votes. Similarly, BSP’s Salim Qureshi stood third by getting only 23 thousand 700 votes.

This seat went to BJP in the 2017 assembly elections. At that time Avtar Singh Bhadana on BJP ticket had won by 193 votes after getting 69 thousand votes. He defeated SP’s Liaquat Ali. At that time too, BSP’s Nawazish Alam Khan was at third position on this seat.

Similarly, in the first assembly elections held on this seat in 2012, BSP’s Jamil Qasmi won the election by getting 56800 votes. He defeated Mithlesh Pal of RLD by a margin of 12733 votes. At that time, BJP’s Veerpal Nirwal was in third place by getting only 25 thousand votes.
