A strange incident happened during a wedding ceremony in Sultanpur, Uttar Pradesh. When the wedding procession came here, it was warmly welcomed by the bride’s side. Then after Jaimal, the girl went inside and was told that she cannot marry a mentally retarded boy. During this time it came to light that the boy had failed in 10th. There was negotiation between the people from both sides throughout the night, finally the matter reached the police and a settlement was reached only in the presence of the police. It was decided that the boy’s side would return the expense of the tilak and the girl’s side would return the jewellery.
After this the wedding procession returned without the bride. The matter pertains to village Mustafabad Kala of Dostpur police station area of Sultanpur. According to the police, the marriage of a 28-year-old girl living here was fixed with a 30-year-old youth living in Akhandnagar police station area. This marriage was to take place on Sunday 17 November 2024. The wedding procession reached at the appointed time and the girl’s side provided great hospitality to the wedding guests. Meanwhile, Jaimal happened and the girl went inside.
After Jaimal, the bride refused to marry
Here, after tea and breakfast, when the girl was called for the next ritual, she refused to marry. Said that she is a graduate and the groom is mentally retarded and has also failed in 10th. On hearing this, there was a commotion in the wedding hall. The elders from both sides argued all night, but the girl clearly said that she would not spoil her life by marrying an illiterate person. When the matter was not resolved till the end, the girl’s side asked the boy’s side to settle the accounts.
Agreement reached in the presence of police
Both the sides came face to face regarding this. Ultimately the matter reached the police and it was then decided that the transaction amount would be returned. The boy will have to repay the expenses for the tilak. After this the girl’s father will also return the jewelery given for the wedding. After this the procession returned. In this regard, the girl’s family refused to talk to the media. The boy’s father said that this ruckus happened over a pair of slippers and a bangle.
