When Apple launched the iPhone 16 Pro in September, it arrived in a highly competitive premium smartphone market. Samsung’s Galaxy S24 series and Google Pixel 9 series emerged as the iPhone 16’s biggest rivals.
But the rivalry between the iPhone and Pixel reached a new height this time since Google, for the first time, launched four Pixel smartphones. The Pixel 9 Pro has managed to stand out and take on the iPhone 16 Pro. Here is a side-by-side comparison of their specifications.

Display: Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro uses a 6.3-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display that supports an adaptive refresh rate of 1 to 120Hz, up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness, HDR10, and Dolby Vision. On the other hand, the Google Pixel 9 Pro boasts a 6.3-inch LTPO OLED screen with a 120Hz adaptive refresh rate, HDR10+, and a peak brightness of 3,000 nits. Both phones offer Always-On Display functionality.
Processor: Powering the iPhone 16 Pro is Apple’s latest A18 Pro chip, featuring a hexa-core CPU and a hexa-core GPU. It has 8GB of RAM and up to 1TB of storage. Google’s Pixel 9 Pro uses the company’s new Tensor G4 chip with eight CPU cores and a Mali-G715 MC7 GPU. It has up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage. Expandable storage is not supported on either phone.
Cameras: The iPhone 16 Pro packs three cameras on its back: a 48MP wide sensor with sensor-shift optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 12MP periscope telephoto sensor with 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide sensor that can click macros. Its FaceTime camera uses a 12MP sensor. On the other hand, the Pixel 9 Pro has a 50MP wide sensor with OIS, a 48MP periscope telephoto sensor with a 5x optical zoom, and a 48MP ultrawide sensor. The phone has a 42MP selfie camera.
Battery: While Apple does not reveal the iPhone’s official battery capacity, a teardown recently confirmed the iPhone 16 Pro has a 3582mAh battery. Meanwhile, Google has equipped the Pixel 9 Pro with a 4700mAh battery. Both phones support wireless charging.

While the iPhone 16 Pro starts at ₹1,19,900, the Pixel 9 Pro is available at a starting price of ₹1,09,999 for the 16GB RAM/256GB variant.
