The police has arrested an eccentric youth from Jhangha in Gorakhpur, Uttar Pradesh. The accused had gone to jail in a rape case. After that he started hating women. He used to attack women to create fear in their minds, he enjoyed when they screamed. He attacked five women in five months, one of whom died.
After scanning the footage of more than 150 CCTV cameras, the police finally reached the accused. However, in this case, the then SHO of Jhangha had to lose his police station, because all these incidents had happened in his area. SOG and Jhangha police station jointly launched an operation to arrest the accused. The police went from village to village and interrogated people and on the basis of suspicion detained a total of six people and interrogated them. Ajay Nishad, who carried out the crime, was also caught in CCTV cameras at four incidents. When the police took him into custody and interrogated him strictly, he revealed the truth.
Had gone to jail in rape case in 2022
The accused told that in the year 2022, he had raped a girl and in that case the police had sent him to jail. When he was released from jail after six months, he was threatening the girl’s family to compromise, but they again filed a case. In such a situation, I had to go to jail again, when I came out I started hating women. I wanted to create fear in them. In this sequence, on July 29, he reached Sahasraon village and attacked Maya Devi who was sleeping alone in the house. The incident looked like theft, so I ran away from his house with the box, so that no one would suspect me.
When did you attack?
The accused told that on the night of 12th August, Mamta, who had come to her maternal house in Upadholia village, was also attacked on her head. After that, on August 25, 55 Bharti Rambha Devi was attacked in Rajdhani village. On November 9, Shanti Singh and on November 13, Kavita, a girl from Kathariya village, was attacked with a stick.
The accused told the police that when I used to attack and women used to scream, I used to get immense pleasure and my heart felt cold. He also told the police that he used to worship Shanidev, hence he was wearing black clothes. Before committing the crime, the accused used to worship on the Rapti river located in Jhangha police station area. After that, he would go to a house where women were alone and attack them and injure them badly.
He told the police that he did not wear slippers while committing the crime because if he left the slippers, he would be caught by the police. Also, after committing the incident, he used to leave the main road and go through footpaths or streets. He also kept in mind that there were no CCTV cameras installed on the way. If any CCTV camera was visible, he would raise both his hands and start chanting the name of God, so that no one would have any doubt.
The accused told that after committing the crime he used to talk to his girlfriend. I became friends with him through Instagram. She is a resident of Dehradun. Police investigation revealed that he had talked to his girlfriend for about 3600 hours.
After committing the incident in August, he had gone to Dehradun to meet his girlfriend. Stayed in a hotel with a room. The police is also preparing to interrogate his girlfriend. He told that he used thick wooden sticks and iron rods to carry out the incident. He told during police interrogation that he had gone to Surat after committing three incidents in August. Had returned before Chhath festival and again carried out two incidents.
What did the police officer say?
SSP Dr. Gaurav Grover said that due to five consecutive incidents of attack on women in Jhangha police station area, the police started pointing fingers. In this case, the then police station in-charge Suraj Singh was removed. After that he was made in-charge of SOG. While being in-charge of SOG, his team worked hard and arrested the accused. On his information, the police have recovered the bamboo stick, cot bed and iron rod used in the incident.
