10 newborn babies died in a tragic fire incident that took place on Friday night at the Medical College in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh. The fire broke out in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) of the Medical College, causing mourning all around. As soon as the fire broke out, there was a stampede in the hospital. During this time, a father Yakum Mansoori was sleeping on the footpath. Yakum woke up from sleep due to the noise made by the fire.

After this, hearing the noise, they broke the window and entered inside and took out many children. But he failed to save his two daughters. When the authorities showed him some burnt bodies for identification, he could not even recognize his daughters. This incident happened at around 10.45 pm. Many parents were talked to regarding this case and many parents along with Yaqum Ansari expressed their pain.

Parents were seen crying for their children

At present, in this case it is believed that the fire occurred due to electrical short circuit. After the incident, many parents were seen crying for their children outside the medical college. The faces of many women were hidden behind veils, but their grief was clearly visible from their screams. The woman named Santoshi, who had given birth to a child just 11 days ago, said that she came running when the fire broke out, but no one told her what was happening and she too could not save her child.

10 children died in fire

According to the victims, 10 children died during the fire, while 16 others were seriously injured. A sad mother Sanjana told that she had admitted her child born at seven months of pregnancy here, but due to the fire her child also died. Another father named Sonu said that he had got his child admitted to NICU for about a month, but he also lost his life in the fire.

The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a compensation amount of Rs 5 lakh to the families of the deceased, and has also ordered a three-level inquiry into the incident. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also expressed grief over this tragic incident and announced an assistance of Rs 2 lakh to the families of the deceased.

Investigation into the case continues

This incident has highlighted the shortcomings in safety and security management in health facilities. Experts say that to prevent such incidents, there is a need to tighten security measures in hospitals. Police and local administration are also investigating the matter seriously, so that no such untoward incident happens in future.
