Punjabi rapper-singer Karan Aujla, one of the most celebrated names in the Punjabi music scene, has opened up about the chilling threats that continue to shadow his life and career.
Known for chart-topping hits and a massive global fanbase, Aujla revealed that fame has come with a dark side – one that involves real danger and constant caution.
Karan Aujla wants to stay in Ludhiana but…
In a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter India, Aujla shared how he has been a target in the past, recalling incidents that left lasting scars. “A lot of people walk with security and bouncers for the flash,” he said. “That’s not true in my case. It’s for the safety aspect. I have actually been through stuff. I have been targeted. I have seen bullets go through my windows. It’s not about making a show of carrying a weapon.”
Back in 2023, Aujla moved his family from Vancouver, Canada, to Dubai, UAE, in search of a safer environment. Despite frequently traveling to India for work, the rapper confessed he longs to return to his roots in Ludhiana, Punjab. “The situation right now is not what I would like it to be. But hopefully in the future I’d be able to,” he expressed.
People have died for real: Karan Aujla
The threats to Punjabi artists have only intensified over the years, with several high-profile attacks shaking the industry. Aujla emphasised the gravity of the situation, stating, “We don’t wanna take any chances. There’s so much stuff that’s happened in the past. People have died for real. So it’s not a joke. I’m trying not to let any of that disturb my happy life. I would rather take precautions.”
Aujla’s concerns are extremely valid, keeping in mind recent attacks on Elvish Yadav and Fazilpuria as well as shooting outside Kapil Sharma’s Canada Cafe.
