Bangladesh Announces T20 Squad Against Zimbabwe, Towhid Hridoy to Lead

After suffering a heavy defeat by an innings and 85 runs in the only Test match against Zimbabwe, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has announced its squad for the upcoming three-match T20 series.

Towhid Hridoy has been appointed as the captain for this series. Regular captain Litton Das, all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz, fast bowler Taskin Ahmed, and Hasan Mahmud are unavailable due to their commitments in the Lanka Premier League (LPL).

This will be Hridoy’s second opportunity to captain the T20 international team. He previously led the side in a three-match home series against Australia last month when Litton was sidelined due to a knee injury. Litton Das is recovering from his injury and is expected to be fit before the second ODI of the Zimbabwe tour.

The Lanka Premier League is scheduled to take place from July 17 to August 8. Four Bangladeshi players have received No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to participate in the LPL.

Bangladesh has also made changes to the squad that played against Australia. Mohammad Saifuddin, Yasir Ali, and Mosaddek Hossain have returned to the national team, while Shamim Hossain has been dropped.

The first T20 match between Bangladesh and Zimbabwe will take place on July 15, followed by two more matches on July 17 and 19. All three matches will be held at the Queens Sports Club in Bulawayo. Before the T20 series, both teams will compete in a three-match ODI series at the Harare Sports Club, where Bangladesh aims to avenge their Test match defeat.

Bangladesh T20 squad against Zimbabwe: Towhid Hridoy (captain), Parvez Hossain Emon (wicketkeeper), Tanzid Hasan, Saif Hasan, Mosaddek Hossain, Yasir Ali, Nurul Hasan (wicketkeeper), Mehidy Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Naeem Rana, Mohammad Saifuddin, and Abdul Gaffar Saklain.
