Important steps regarding women’s safety
CM Atishi said that ever since the Aam Aadmi Party government was formed in Delhi in 2015 and Arvind Kejriwal became the Chief Minister of Delhi, many steps have been taken by the elected government of Delhi regarding the safety of women. Be it installation of CCTV cameras in the city or appointment of marshals in buses. Under the guidance of Arvind Kejriwal, Delhi government continued working for the safety of women.
He said that the women of Delhi know very well how difficult it is for them to travel in DTC buses. To ensure that women are not misbehaved, bus marshals have been deployed in DTC buses. Since 2015, marshals were appointed in DTC buses in two shifts for the safety of women, elderly and children. But from 2023 onwards, efforts were made to disrupt this scheme of Bus Marshall.
Women are unsafe due to lack of marshal
First, the salaries of bus marshals were stopped from April 2023 and then from October 2023, all the bus marshals were removed from their jobs. CM Atishi said that there is an important issue before the people of Delhi and before the Delhi government related to women’s safety. Women are feeling unsafe due to the absence of bus marshals in the buses.
At the same time, Minister Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the proposal for reinstatement of bus marshals was unanimously passed in the Delhi Assembly and that on October 3, all the MLAs of Aam Aadmi Party and BJP will go to LG Saheb. The entire cabinet of Delhi will go to LG Saheb. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the proposal was not approved till November 5.
