Filmmaker Meghna Gulzar has got actor Prithviraj Sukumaran on board for her next film. The director is working on a film with Kareena Kapoor Khan, which has been tentatively titled Daayra, and Prithviraj has been signed to play an important role.
The film is reportedly based on a true and disturbing incident.
Sources close to the production exclusively told India Today Digital that Prithviraj will be seen as a cop in the film. The source said, “After Ayushmann Khurrana and Sidharth Malhotra exited Daayra due to scheduling conflicts, Prithviraj was approached. He connected with the script and the film’s message. His role is essential in driving the narrative, while Kareena’s character will show her in a new light, exuding strength, vulnerability, and intuition.”
Prithviraj was last seen as a villain in Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, which starred Akshay Kumar and Tiger Shroff in the lead, and ended up being a box office dud. This is going to be the actor’s first collaboration with Kareena and Meghna. The shooting of the film is going to commence soon.
Meanwhile, Prithviraj has found new popularity, especially among film-makers working on performance-oriented subjects, after his incredible appearance in the acclaimed Malayalam film, Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life. He was also recently seen in Prabhas’s Salaar: Part I – Ceasefire.
Meghna’s last film was Sam Bahadur, which starred Vicky Kaushal in a pivotal role. The film performed fairly at the box office despite clashing with Ranbir Kapoor’s Animal.
