UP Bar Council has announced a protest on Monday against lathi charge on lawyers in Ghaziabad District Court premises. Lawyers will be on strike throughout UP. Not only this, lawyers of Delhi will also be on strike. There are preparations for protests in all the districts of UP. Lawyers will raise their voice by abstaining from judicial work.
Allahabad High Court Bar Association has also announced not to do judicial work on Monday. In such a situation, lawyers will not work even in the High Court. Besides, lawyers in other districts have also held meetings and announced to go on strike and protest. In such a situation, the police and the district administration have also made security arrangements to ensure that law and order does not get disturbed.
UP Bar Council said- On the instructions of Ghaziabad District Judge, the police had brutally lathicharged the lawyers in the court premises. Many lawyers were left bleeding in the lathicharge. UP Bar Council has strongly protested against this incident. Also, after watching the video of assault on lawyers, the District Judge Ghaziabad has been strongly condemned. It was decided that after the report of the committee of five members of the Council, which is investigating this case, strict action will be taken against any judicial, administrative or police officers found guilty in it.
What is the whole matter?
On October 29, there was an altercation between the District Judge and the accused’s advocate Nahar Singh Yadav regarding the bail hearing of the accused in a case. After this the matter gained momentum. Seeing the situation worsening, the District Judge called the police. The police asked the lawyers present in the District Judge’s court to go out, but the lawyers did not listen. After this the police used force and lathicharged. The lawyers became angry over the lathi charge.
Regarding the dispute, the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh has passed a resolution of strike in the entire state on November 4. Bar Association President Deepak Sharma said that the lawyers of Ghaziabad will be on strike on November 4 and a strategy will be prepared to run the movement further.
