The bail plea of Aam Aadmi Party leader Amanatullah Khan was heard in Delhi on Tuesday. The jailed AAP leader has also filed a bail petition in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court. The court has now fixed November 7 for the next hearing on the petition.
During the hearing itself, ED sought time from the court to file its reply on the bail plea of Amanatullah and told the court that it will file a charge sheet against 5 accused including Amanatullah Khan in this case. After this, the court gave the date of November 7 to hear the bail petition.
Supplementary charge sheet filed
The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday filed a supplementary charge sheet against AAP MLA Amanatullah Khan on charges of money laundering in a case of alleged irregularities in the Delhi Waqf Board. The court can consider the 110-page charge sheet filed by ED on November 4.
Was arrested on 2nd September
Maryam Siddiqui’s name is also in the charge sheet filed by the Enforcement Directorate, who has not been arrested by the ED yet. Aam Aadmi Party leader Amanatullah Khan was arrested by the ED on September 2 from his Okhla residence and is currently in judicial custody.
Anticipatory bail was not received from the High Court
Before his arrest, Amanatullah Khan had filed a petition for anticipatory bail in the Delhi High Court, which was rejected by the court saying that no MLA is above the law. Being a public representative, he cannot avoid joining the investigation by citing his responsibilities. Repeatedly ignoring the investigating agencies is like creating obstacles in the investigation. The court further said that people have the right to know the truth.
