Sawantwadi (Maharashtra) [India], October 29 (Desk): Ahead of assembly elections, Maharashtra School Education and Marathi Language Minister Deepak Kesarkar on Tuesday filed the nomination from the Sawantwadi assembly constituency. Kesarkar, now part of Eknath Shinde’s Shiv Sena, was elected MLA from the same constituency in 2019, 2014 and 2009.
Kesarkar said that the state’s infrastructure and industries had fallen earlier but the advancement in Maharashtra has happened because of the Mahayuti alliance.
“Farmers get insurance for merely one rupee. Women in households are getting Rs 1,500 and if they are farmers they get Rs 6,000 from the central government. These things are only possible in Mahayuti’s government. We had fallen in terms of infrastructure, and industries. However, it is because of Mahayuti the advancement has happened,” he said.
Speaking on the seat-sharing tussle in Mahayuti, Kesarkar said that it is natural that there will be some delay when you contest elections in an alliance. “We don’t have any rebels in our party,” he said.
He also held a roadshow along with Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Narayan Rane before filing the nomination.
“My nomination is for the welfare of my voters who have given me the love, and affection and I have been elected for three consecutive terms. Nobody else has been able to do this Sawantwadi constituency. I am all set to get this because of my voters for whom I have sanctioned so much development work and I expect it to start and complete it during this tenure,” said Kesarkar.
“I am elated that Rane sahib is with me today. I am proud to say that we have the confidence and love of people and I am confident that Mahayuti will form the government in Maharashtra and work towards increasing tourist influx in Sindhudurg which is right beside my constituency,” Kesarkar told Desk after filing the nomination.
Kesarkar expressed that during his tenure extensive development work has been carried out in villages and towns of his constituency.
“Sawantwadi voters have always supported him. They are like my family. Their only expectation is that I should meet them once every three or four years. I do that without fail. During election time, I go to everyone. All the development work in their villages, and towns are going on constantly. They are very happy. At the same time, they have a right on me,” the minister said.
Kesarkar informed that most of the issues related to electricity and roads in his constituency have already been resolved and now he aims to create employment in the Sawantwadi assembly constituency.
“I wish to create employment for my constituents now. For this, two schemes have been designed by me. We provide the money to work on the local resources and the income of the locals drastically increases. We also have a project that employs women. We are giving them local breeds of cows, and goats. We are also creating employment through processing units of local products like Mangoes, and cashews since the area is known for its horticulture,” he said.
The Shinde’s Shiv Sena leader said that he has solved multiple problems in his constituency including a revenue-related issue that was pending for 50 years. Farmers will be getting Rs 60 crores extra as compensation for their land, Kesarkar said.
“I have solved so many problems in my constituency. There was a revenue-related issue which wasn’t resolved for 50 years, but I resolved it. One hotel project which was pending for 25 years has been restarted. Farmers will be getting Rs 60 crores extra as compensation for their land. First five-star hotel in this district is in my constituency,” he said. (Desk)
