Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], October 27 (Desk): Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar on Sunday aligned himself and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah with Karnataka’s Hallikar community and said that the government is with them and they would look into their demands positively.
Shivakumar made these remarks at a community convention and scholarship distribution program organized by the State Villagers Association.
Speaking at the event, he said, “Hallikars are children of Mother Earth and descendants of Lord Krishna. The convention of the Hallikar community is taking place after a gap of 80 years under the leadership of KM Nagaraju. The government is with the Hallikars.”
He highlighted the community’s rich heritage, saying, “The Hallikar community has a history spanning 1,200 years. Known for protecting cows, it is commendable to see the community uniting again after eight decades. I hope the community continues to organize itself well under Nagaraju’s leadership.”
Shivakumar praised KM Nagaraju for his contributions to the community.
“Nagaraju is one of the foremost leaders of the community and he has helped many leaders emerge from the community. Many people have benefited from his leadership. Former CM Veerappa Moily had proposed Nagaraju’s name for MLC position, but he sacrificed the post for Premachand Sagar,” he recalled. (Desk)
