Border-Gavaskar Trophy: 8 players will play for the first time in Australia, these 3 are sure to debut!

BCCI has announced Team India for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy. The selection committee has completely rejuvenated the Indian team going on Australia tour. Actually, in the main squad of 15 members announced for the 5-match series, there are 8 players who are going to play in Australia for the first time. Whereas 11 players who went to Australia last time did not get a place in the team. That means captain Rohit Sharma and Team India head coach Gautam Gambhir have decided to go with a new team. Let us tell you that 3 out of 8 players who are going on Australia tour for the first time can debut.

These 3 players can debut

BCCI has announced a team of 18 members for the Australia tour. In this, 15 players are part of the main squad, while 3 are going as reserves. The main squad of the Indian team includes Yashasvi Jaiswal, Abhimanyu Easwaran, Sarfaraz Khan, Dhruv Jurel (wicketkeeper), Nitish Kumar Reddy, Akash Deep, Prasidh Krishna and Harshit Rana are going to play against Australia for the first time at their home. Of these, 5 have made their Team India Test debut, but 3 players have not got the chance yet.

The Indian team is going on a tour for a 5-match test series, which will last for about 2.5 months. In such a situation, the team will need to manage workload, while some players may also get injured. Because of this, considering the long series, all three players Abhimanyu Easwaran, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Harshit Rana will have a chance to debut.

What is the track record of the three players?

The Indian team wants to use Nitish Kumar Reddy as a pace bowling all-rounder. His presence will give the team depth in batting with the fourth pacer. Nitish has made his debut for India in T20, where he showed his batting prowess against Bangladesh. Before this, he has done wonders with bat and ball in IPL. Talking about his first class career, he has scored 708 runs in 21 matches at an average of 21.45, which includes 1 century and 2 half-centuries. Apart from this, he has also taken 55 wickets at an average of 26. That means he also has the ability to take wickets.

Due to personal reasons, there is little hope of captain Rohit Sharma playing in the first test. In such a situation, Abhimanyu Easwaran will have a chance to make his debut and open. Easwaran has long experience in first class. He has scored 7638 runs in 99 first class matches at an average of 49. This includes 27 centuries and 29 half-centuries. Now coming to Harshit Rana. This right arm fast bowler had impressed a lot during the IPL. Earlier, he had left his mark in the Under-19 World Cup. But despite being selected in 2 series, Harshit has not got a chance to debut in any format. Harshit has played only 9 first class matches, in which he has 36 wickets in his name at an average of 24.
