The Xiaomi 17 may have arrived only recently, but attention is already shifting to what comes next. Fresh leaks suggest that Xiaomi is preparing a meaningful upgrade with the Xiaomi 18, especially for users who prefer compact flagship phones.
The upcoming device is tipped to combine a larger battery, a powerful next-generation processor and a major camera upgrade, while keeping a relatively small form factor. If the latest reports are accurate, the Xiaomi 18 could become the first standard Xiaomi flagship to borrow some premium features that were earlier limited to Pro models. Xiaomi 18: Specs (Expected)
According to recent leaks, the Xiaomi 18 engineering prototype packs a 7,200mAh battery, which is slightly larger than the 7,000mAh unit found on the current Xiaomi 17. Rumours also claim that it would be supported with 100W of fast charging and 50W of wireless charging.
In terms of display, the smartphone is expected to come equipped with a 6.4-inch 2K LTPO AMOLED panel with a 144Hz adaptive refresh rate. The handset is also tipped to bag IP69 water and dust resistance ratings.
Under the hood, the smartphone could be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 chipset paired up with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of internal storage. Out of the box, the device will reportedly run on HyperOS 17 and an Android 17-based skin.
For the camera enthusiasts, the smartphone may feature a triple rear camera setup at the rear end of the device, including a 200MP primary sensor, a 200MP periscope telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and a 50MP ultra-wide-angle camera. It may also boast a 50MP at the front for selfies and video calls.
Xiaomi 18: Launch timeline (Expected)
If Xiaomi follows its regular launch pattern, the device could arrive in the Chinese market in September 2026, followed by its debut in India as early as March 2027. Furthermore, certain reports also claim that the Xiaomi 18 could be released close to the time of Apple’s iPhone launch, which would position the Xiaomi 18 against the future iPhone 18 Pro range.

According to early reports, the Xiaomi 18 could cost around Rs 70,000 in India. However, do note that it’s an initial estimate, and the actual price could be different. Some of the external factors, like an increase in the price of chipsets and taxes, could influence the final cost of the device in India.
