With Gatta Kusthi 2 set to arrive in cinemas in just a few days, actor Vishnuu Vishal has shared a deeply personal health update that has left fans concerned and moved. The actor revealed that he has been living with an autoimmune condition for the past three to four years, addressing questions that surfaced after audiences noticed visible changes in his appearance during the film’s promotional events.
Vishnuu Vishal opens up about his health journey
Taking to social media, Vishnuu explained that the medication prescribed as part of his treatment has resulted in physical side effects, including facial bloating and fatigue, which many fans had pointed out in recent weeks.
“Many of you noticed that my face looks tired lately. The reason is that I’ve been dealing with an autoimmune condition for the last 3-4 years, and the prescribed medication I’m taking on and off has some visible side effects, including the bloating you’ve been noticing,” he wrote.
The actor clarified that while the medication has altered his appearance, it remains an essential part of his treatment. He also emphasised that prioritising his health continues to be his foremost concern. Autoimmune conditions occur when the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks healthy tissues, often requiring long term treatment and medication to manage symptoms.
Despite the physical challenges, Vishnuu said he remained committed to fulfilling his professional responsibilities, particularly during the crucial promotional campaign for Gatta Kusthi 2.
“I’m hopeful that my health will improve soon. Your concern has only encouraged me to take even better care of myself, and I’m truly grateful for every message and every bit of support,” he further added.
His candid post quickly drew an outpouring of support from fans and colleagues, with many wishing him a speedy recovery and praising him for speaking openly about his health.
Gatta Kusthi 2 gears up for release
The actor’s health update comes just ahead of the theatrical release of Gatta Kusthi 2 on July 3. Vishnuu said he is entering the final stretch of promotions with optimism and thanked audiences for standing by him throughout the journey.
The sequel reunites much of the team behind the 2022 sports comedy, with director Chella Ayyavu returning to the helm. Aishwarya Lekshmi reprises her role as Keerthi, wife of Vishnuu Vishal’s character Veera, while Kaali Venkat, Karunaas, Munishkanth, Lizie Antony, Gajaraj and Sreeja Ravi also return.
The sequel expands its cast with the addition of Ramya Krishnan and Yogi Babu in key roles. Karunakaran, Mokksha and child actor Zara Zyanna also feature in the ensemble.
The first film struck a chord with audiences for blending comedy, family drama and wrestling against the backdrop of gender dynamics within marriage. Expectations are now high for the sequel as it aims to build on that success while introducing a fresh story with familiar characters.
Even as he prepares for one of the biggest releases of the year, Vishnuu Vishal’s heartfelt message has shifted the spotlight from the screen to his resilience. For many fans, his honesty about navigating a long term health condition has become just as inspiring as his dedication to promoting the film despite the challenges.
