The young shooter topped in the final with an incredible score of 41 – she also matched the World Junior Record as she secured the biggest win of her career. Her father did many sacrifices to support her but one of the biggest was that he left his government job to support her career.

This has also increased India’s medal tally to six – this includes two gold, three silver and one bronze. Esha Singh is also other Indian in the eight-shooter final who finished seventh, while Olympic medallist Manu Bhaker narrowly missed qualification, ending ninth.

Simarpreet Kaur shot 585 in the qualification to seal a spot in the final and in the medal round she started slowly, even slipping to 8th spot but she made a stunning comeback with three perfect series of 5 to surpass China’s Yao Qianxun, who took silver, and Germany’s Doreen Vennekamp, who finished third.

In men’s 50m rifle Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar ensured that he had a stunning World Cup debut as he clinched a silver medal – finishing just 0.9 points behind the gold medalist Jiri Privratsky. Meanwhile, Anish Bhanwala added another silver in the kitty in 25m rapid-fire pistol event.
