During FSDA’s investigation in many malls of Lucknow, negligence in food safety on a large scale came to light. Dirt in food items, expired products and disregard for rules were detected. This action has created a stir throughout the city.
Behind the glittering streets and grand malls of Lucknow, there was a truth hidden which no one expected. Where people come to eat comfortably with their families, even basic things like cleanliness and license were not seen in the same kitchens. This major action taken on the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has revealed the real picture of the reputed food brands of the capital.
14 teams of FSDA raided 7 big malls
The Food Safety and Drug Administration (FSDA) of Uttar Pradesh, in a joint operation, inspected 61 establishments operating in 7 major malls of Lucknow. Lulu Mall, Palacio, Phoenix, Cinepolis, Emerald, Wave and Phoenix Mall were kept under investigation. Every team collected video evidence and conducted strict inspections from the kitchen to the storage.

Biggest flaws found in Lulu Mall, two establishments closed
FSDA’s investigation revealed several serious deficiencies in Lulu Mall.
- Dubru The Chap was found to be operating without a license, after which it was sealed with immediate effect.
- Discrepancies related to manufacturing date were found in Lulu Hyper Market, due to which its license was also not as per the standard and it was closed.
Apart from this, many flaws were also found in Chili’s, Barbecue Nation, Bikaner Express, Golf Sizzler and Tunde Kababi, on which warnings have been issued.
Big action against KFC in Cinepolis Mall
FSDA team found extremely unhygienic and unhygienic conditions at KFC in Cinepolis Mall. Due to this, the establishment has been stopped from doing food business with immediate effect.
The condition of some establishments in Palacio, Emerald and Phoenix is fine.
While many brands failed the test, some gave relief by meeting the standards.

- Palacio Mall: Pizza Hut, Ear Sub, Choco Fountain
- Emerald Mall: Haldiram’s, McDonald’s, Varista
- Phoenix Mall: Dosa Planet, Readycafe, Domino’s, Café Coffee Day

- The condition in the food courts of Cinepolis and Fun Republic was also found to be bad.

Officials say that this campaign will continue further. Instructions for improvement have been issued to the establishments where deficiencies have been found. It is expected that this strictness will make food outlets more responsible and safe foods will be available to customers.
