‘Guruji’ Vijay arrested for cheating with fake Ayurvedic medicine in Bengaluru. He used to cheat people by pretending to cure sexual problems. The police caught him and his partner after defrauding a techie of ₹48 lakh.
Bengaluru: Gyan Bharati Police has arrested a fake ‘Guruji’, who was duping people by pretending to provide Ayurvedic medicines for various diseases including sexual problems. After recently duping a techie of entire ₹48 lakh by promising to cure his sexual problem, the entire story of this ‘Tent Baba’ has come to light during the investigation. The arrested accused has been identified as Vijay Guruji. The police have also detained one of his associates who used to help him in this work.
Cheating by setting up tents on the roadside
Accused Vijay Guruji used to sell Ayurvedic medicines by setting up a tent on the roadside. He targeted people suffering from knee pain, skin diseases and especially sexual problems. He used to cheat people who came hoping for treatment by giving them fake Ayurvedic medicines in the form of herbs and powders. Although this swindler used to cheat small amounts like Rs. 1000, Rs. 5000, Rs. 10000, but due to fear of being defamed, many people did not complain to the police and remained silent.
A techie who was afraid of defamation was cheated of ₹ 48 lakh!
Taking advantage of this hesitation of the people, Vijay Guruji contacted a technician suffering from sexual problem. After promising to cure him completely, he cheated about ₹ 48 lakh in installments and absconded! When the amount of fraud became very big, Techie lodged a complaint, after which the police registered a case and started investigation. During investigation, it was found that this tent baba had cheated people in a similar manner at many places in the state. At present, Gyan Bharati Police Station has arrested the accused Vijay Guruji and his associate and is interrogating them about the fraud committed at other places.
