In Hindu religion, there is mention of many worlds in the Vedas and Puranas. It is believed that there are worlds above the earth as well as under the earth. There are considered to be seven worlds beneath the earth. Trilok is always mentioned in religious texts.

These three people have been divided into 14 Bhuvans. In which some are below the earth and some are above the earth, the earth has been called the seventh world.

According to Hindu scriptures, there is mention of heaven above the earth and the underworld below. Hades is considered the last world in Hindu scriptures.

Separate arrangements have been made in these worlds for all the souls of gods, demons, sages and human beings. According to religious scriptures, everyone’s living arrangements are described differently. According to Vishnu Purana, it has been said about three worlds and 14 Bhuvans. Of these, 7 worlds are called upper world and 7 are called underworld. Let us know which are those 3 worlds and into which 14 Bhuvans they have been divided.

heaven (higher world, upper world)

Hades (underworld)

Demons, demons, yakshas and big snakes reside here. King Bali resides in this world to whom Lord Vishnu had given the boon of immortality. There is a description of seven types of underworld in Vishnu Purana.

Description of the 14 Bhuvans of the three worlds: Satlok – Satyalok is said to be twelve crore yojanas above Tapalok and Lord Brahma resides here. The power of Brahma resides here. This is called Brahmaloka. High class sages also reside here.
Tapolok Tapolok is said to be eight crore yojanas above Janlok and is the residence of a god named Vairaj. This is the world of ascetics
Janalok Janalok is said to be two crore yojanas above Mahalok and sages like Sanakadik etc. reside here. This is Devlok, where the gods reside.
Mahaloka – This world is described as one crore yojanas away from Dhruva Loka. It is believed that sages like Bhrigu etc. reside here. This is the world of gods.
Dhruvalok: This world has been kept in the category of heaven. This region extends from the Sun to the polar region. Indra and the gods of heaven reside here.
Siddhaloka – It is also called Bhuvarloka. The area in space from the Earth to the Sun comes under the category of Earth. The gods of space reside in that area.
Prithvi Loka – Earth where humans, living beings and animals reside. The earth comes inside the earth only.
Atallok Atallok is at a depth of ten thousand yojanas from our earth and its land is said to be Shukla i.e. white. A demon named Bala lives here.
Vittallok – Ten thousand yojanas below Atal is Vittallok. Its land is of Krishna i.e. black colour. Lord Shiva’s gang reside in this world.
Sutallok – is ten thousand yojanas below Vittal and its land is like Arun. King Bali resides in this world. he is the king of sutal
Talataloka – It is ten thousand yojanas below Nital and its land is yellow in colour. A demon named Asura Maya lives here.
Mahatallok is ten thousand yojanas below Talatal and its land is said to be rocky. Snakes rule here. This is where snakes like Kalia, Takshak etc. live.
Rasatallok – It is ten thousand yojanas below Mahatallok and its land style is said to be rocky. Powerful demons reside here.
Patallok Patallok is ten thousand yojanas below Rasatallok and it is called the lowest world, it is called Naglok, its land is golden i.e. made of gold. Vasuki Naga rules this place.

Demons, demons and serpents are said to reside in these seven underworlds i.e. underworld.

According to Vishnu Purana, Bhulok, Bhuvarlok and Swarlok are considered as Kritak Loka and Janalok, Tapalok and Satyalok are considered as Akritak Loka. Maharlok has been called Kritakkritak.
