New Zealand vs West Indies, 1st Test: With the start of the first Test against West Indies in Christchurch, New Zealand’s campaign for the new phase of WTC also started. The Christchurch Test also saw the return of Kane Williamson to the Kiwi team, who has been playing the longer format of cricket after a gap of about a year. Kane Williamson picked up his game in this Test from where he left it in the last Test played in Hamilton a year ago. Williamson’s last innings in Test cricket was 156 runs and now while making a comeback against West Indies, he scored a brilliant half-century in the first innings.

The New Zealand team is batting first in the first Test being played in Christchurch. Kane Williamson faced 102 balls in the first innings and scored 52 runs with the help of 6 fours. This is the 52nd half-century of his Test career. Through this inning, Williamson has not only made a comeback in Test cricket but has also touched a milestone.
Scored 1000 test runs against West Indies also
West Indies has now become the 5th country against which Kane Williamson has completed 1000 runs in Test cricket. Before this, he had done this feat against England, Pakistan, South Africa and Sri Lanka. Kane Williamson completed 1000 Test runs against West Indies as soon as he scored the 30th run of his innings in the Christchurch Test. Williamson is the only player in the history of New Zealand Test cricket to have scored 1000 runs against 5 countries.
1022 runs in 18 innings vs West Indies
Before the Christchurch Test, Kane Williamson had scored 970 runs in 17 innings against West Indies, which included 3 centuries and 4 half-centuries. But, now he is recorded with 1022 runs, 3 centuries and 5 half-centuries in 18 innings against West Indies.
