The mythological story of Bhaum Pradosh Vrat is related to the story of an old woman who was a devotee of Hanuman ji. There lived an old woman in a city who had a son. That old lady was a great devotee of Lord Hanuman and used to observe his fast every Tuesday. Once Hanuman ji decided to test his devotion. Hanuman ji came to the old woman’s house in the guise of a sage and asked for food.
Hanuman ji, posing as a sage, asked the old lady to bury the land, but the old lady refused and asked her to do some other work. Then the sage told the old woman to call her son, because he wanted to cook food by lighting a fire on his back. Hearing this, the old woman was in a dilemma, but due to her commitment, she handed over her son to the sage.
Then the old woman’s hands lit a fire on her son’s back and the old woman went into the house with a sad heart. When after the meal the sage asked the old woman to call her son, she refused. But when the sage did not agree, the old woman called her son. When the old woman saw her son alive, she was very surprised to see him and fell at the feet of the sage. Then Hanuman ji came in his real form and blessed the old woman.
