To provide financial strength to the farmers, the Yogi government is making payment for the purchase of paddy and millet within 48 hours. From October 1 to November 28, paddy farmers received Rs 1868.35 crore and millet farmers received Rs 263.03 crore. The procurement process is transparent and free from middlemen.
Lucknow. Yogi government is continuously taking steps to make the farmers economically prosperous. On the instructions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, payment is being made to paddy and millet farmers within 48 hours. From October 1st to November 28th, Rs 1868.35 crore has been paid to paddy farmers and Rs 263.03 crore has been paid to millet farmers. Due to transparent policies, farmers are selling their crops at government purchasing centres, where paddy up to 17% moisture is accepted.
Payment of Rs 1868.35 crore continues to paddy farmers
The government is constantly reviewing paddy procurement so that farmers do not face any kind of problem. The Food and Logistics Department is also strictly monitoring this. Between October 1 and November 28, more than 1.40 lakh farmers have sold their paddy crops at government centres. The government has so far given Rs 1868.35 crore to the farmers and payment to the remaining farmers is also being made at a rapid pace.
Millet farmers got Rs 263.03 crore
Procurement of Shree Anna (Millets) is going on in Uttar Pradesh from October 1. Millet farmers have also sold their crops in large numbers at government centres. Till November 28, Rs 263.03 crore has been paid to 22,000 farmers. More than 64,000 farmers have registered for millet sale and the process of payment for the remaining is being expedited.
Minimum Support Price (MSP) of millet and paddy
The MSP of millet has been fixed at Rs 2775 per quintal. Its procurement is being done at 281 government centers in 33 districts. Paddy is being purchased at (Common) Rs 2369 per quintal and (Grade-A) at Rs 2389 per quintal.
Role of middlemen ends, procurement process completely transparent
In a recent meeting, CM Yogi had directed that more and more farmers should sell their crops at government purchasing centers so that they can get the full MSP. The government’s transparent procurement system is now visible on the ground-

A record level of paddy is being procured through this transparent system. Rice mills have got facilities and farmers’ income, confidence and self-reliance have been strengthened.
