In the last month of the year 2025 i.e. December, banks are going to remain closed for many days in different states and cities of the country. If four Sundays and second and fourth Saturdays are also included, there will be a total holiday of 18 days. Bank holidays in India vary according to states and are divided according to national, regional and religious events. The most important festival in this month is Christmas. 1. 1 December (Monday) Banks will remain closed in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland regions on the occasion of State Foundation Day and Indigenous Faith Day.
2. 3 December (Wednesday) Banks will remain closed in Goa on the occasion of the death anniversary of Saint Francis Xavier.
3. 7 December (Sunday) Due to it being Sunday, there will be a holiday in all the banks of the country.
4. 12 December (Friday) The death anniversary of freedom fighter Pa Togan Nengminja Sangma of Garo tribe will be celebrated in Meghalaya.
5. December 13 (fourth Saturday) Due to it being the fourth Saturday, there will be a holiday in all the banks of the country.
6. 14 December (Sunday) Due to it being Sunday, there will be a holiday in all the banks of the country.
7. 18 December (Thursday) Banks will remain closed in Meghalaya on the occasion of the death anniversary of Khasi poet U Soso Tham, known as the “pioneer of Khasi poetry”.
8. 19 December (Friday) On this day, banks will remain closed in Goa on the occasion of Goa Liberation Day, which marks the liberation of Goa from Portuguese rule by the Indian Armed Forces in 1961.
9. 20 December (Saturday) and 22 December (Monday) Banks in Sikkim will remain closed these days due to Losung or Namsung. This festival is celebrated by the Lepcha and Bhutia communities to mark the end of the harvesting season and the beginning of the Sikkimese New Year. At the same time, 21st December is Sunday. Banks are usually closed on Sundays. Therefore, banks in Sikkim will remain closed for three consecutive days.

11. 24 December (Wednesday) Banks in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya will remain closed on Christmas Eve, a day before Christmas.
12. 25 December (Thursday) Banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Christmas. Christians celebrate this day to commemorate the birthday of Jesus Christ.
13. 26 December (Friday) Banks will remain closed in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya on the occasion of Christmas. It is noteworthy that banks in these states will remain closed for four consecutive days including weekend holidays.
14. 27 December (Saturday) There will be a holiday in the entire country due to the fourth Saturday. Also, banks in Kohima will remain closed on the occasion of Christmas.
15. 28 December (Sunday) Due to it being Sunday, there will be a holiday in all the banks of the country.
16. 30 December (Tuesday) On this day, the death anniversary of freedom fighter U Kiang Nangbah is celebrated in Meghalaya, who was publicly hanged by the British. Therefore, banks will remain closed in this area.
17. 31 December (Wednesday) Banks in Mizoram and Manipur will remain closed on New Year’s Eve and Imoinu Iratpa, a festival of light dedicated to the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
