Tata Confirms 6 New ICE Models, 20+ Updates & Avinya Expansion

Tata Motors has announced an aggressive ICE (internal combustion engine) product strategy for the Indian market. The company plans to introduce six new nameplates along with over 20 refreshed and facelifted versions of its existing models by the end of financial year 2027.

Tata’s current product portfolio consists of nine petrol and diesel-powered models, seven of which are also available in electric versions. The  and   are set to join the bandwagon on June 30 and during the 2026 Diwali season, respectively.

One of the major highlights of Tata Motors’ new ICE product strategy is that the Aviny range, which was initially announced as a dedicated EV sub-brand, will eventually support multiple powertrains. This means, the premium Avinya models could be offered with petrol, diesel or hybrid powertrains in the coming years.

The (battery electric vehicle) is likely to debut in late 2026, with its market launch likely to take place in early 2027. The carmaker is expected to use locally manufactured battery packs for the EV, supporting ultra-fast charging technology.

Entry In New Segments

Furthermore, Tata Motors aims to strengthen its position in select high-volume segments including three-row family movers or MPVs (multi-purpose vehicles). While the carmaker hasn’t yet revealed specific details, it might target models such as the Maruti Ertiga, Toyota Rumion, Maruti XL6 and Kia Carens Clavis. The upcoming model could feature an SUV-inspired stance, and cater to both private and commercial buyers.

Sales & Expansion Plans

Following a muti-powertrain and new product strategy, Tata Motors aims to achieve annual sales of more than 12 lakh by FY2031. The carmaker expects EVs and CNG-powered models to account for nearly 45% of industry volumes in the next five years.

Tata Motors will also expand its production capacity from 9 lakh to 13 lakh in the next 2-3 years. Additionally, the company will focus on improving quality and relatability, while maintaining its leadership in EV segment and enhancing customer experience and after-sales service.
