Ahead of the game between England and Ghana in the ,a witch doctor from the African nation named Nana Kwaku Bonsam, claimed to have put a curse on . The man, whose name literally means Devil of Wednesday, said he had cast black magic on the England skipper.

“I am working on Harry Kane. I have shown what I am capable of before so I know what work I must do to stop him. I am not wishing him serious injury. It will be just enough to stop him against my country,” he told the Daily Star.

Did the Curse Work?
Well, the curse seems to have worked as Kane missed an easy chance in the dying moments of the game. He was in the perfect position to take a rebound and find the back of the net, but he blasted it to the top of the bar. With that, England’s hopes of winning the game went blank.

Bonsam claimed back in 2014 that he was the one who engineered an injury to to threaten his participation vs Ghana in the World Cup. Whether or not his curse on Kane actually worked is a matter that can be debated later. But curse or no curse, England and Kane were hard done and found wanting vs Ghana.
