Chetna Pande’s film, Haunted 3D: Echoes of the Past, was released on June 12. Despite a clash with Main Vaapas Aaunga and Bharat Bhhagya Viddhaata, the horror film worked well at the box office. After the Vikram Bhatt directorial was out in theatres, Zoom did an exclusive interaction with Chetna. In conversation with us, the actress spoke about the challenging six months of her life before Haunted 3D was released on the big screen. Chetna revealed that her mother was hospitalised, while her partner, Nishank Swami, was diagnosed with something life-threatening. Moreover, the actress’ pet dog was diagnosed with cancer.
Chetna Pande on tough six months of her life
Looking back at the past few months of her life, said she realised that when a person breaks down a lot, they don’t have anything left to break down about. “These six months of my life have been that. My mother was in the hospital for such a long time. She was diagnosed with cirrhosis. She was constantly falling sick, and I had to go back. Then my partner also got diagnosed with something life-threatening, which he’s dealing with right now. My little dog got diagnosed with cancer,” said Chetna.

The actress mentioned that she had completely disconnected from the outside world during that phase. At that time, her mother, boyfriend and pet dog became her world. “I just wanted them to be okay. I felt nothing else mattered. Only their lives mattered to me. I was praying to God that they would become okay. That’s the time I realised that there is a big world, but your world is your family and those around you,” she told Zoom.
Chetna further stated that when something happens to a person’s loved ones, the breaking point is very painful. “I have broken down when I have done reality shows. Your friends betray you, or you get disappointed. All of that is like not even 30 percent of the fact when your close people are fighting for their lives. You can’t feel more pain in life than that. When all of this happened to me, I realised one thing: that I have nothing else to lose. I have nothing more to break down to.”
Chetna Pande on facing rejections
After going through a tough phase, Chetna realised, “There is only upwards. From here I have to come up, and this was the right time when our film was also coming out. Otherwise, I literally felt I didn’t know how I was going to come back. Because a lot of times you work hard, but you face so many rejections.”

The actress added that she faced so many rejections in her 15-year journey that she forgot what a victory feels like and what it is like to be happy when you get something good in life. “It just disappeared. But then, when you become normal, you just get connected with life. Then all of that doesn’t matter a lot,” she said, and signed off.
