Sarla Bhatt was a resident of Anantnag district in South Kashmir. She used to work as a nurse in Srinagar Nagar, Shere Kashmir. He was abducted by terrorists of Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front in April 1990.
What is Sarla Bhatt murder?
Sarla Bhatt was a resident of Anantnag district and was a nurse at Sher-e-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS) in Saura. On 14 April 1990, JKLF terrorists kidnapped him from Habba Khatoon Hostel in Skims. According to investigative officials, gang rape and physical torture were given for several days after kidnapping Sarla Bhatt. On 19 April 1990, his body was found in Umar Colony in Mallabagh, Srinagar and his body was found in a mutilated condition.

In a note received from the spot, Sarla Bhatt was described as the police informer. It was alleged that he had ignored Kashmiri Pandits to leave the valley or leave a government job. SIA conducted a joint raid with police and CRPF to gather fresh evidence in this murder. These raids killed in Srinagar include the houses of 9 former commanders of JKLF, including Yasin Malik’s residence.

SIA says that many important documents and digital evidence have been collected during the raids, which will help in furthering the case. The aim of the agency is to disclose the entire conspiracy behind this heinous crime in 1990.

In this connection, the Sarla Bhatt case once again came under investigation. At present, Yasin Malik is serving life imprisonment in Tihar Jail. He was convicted by the NIA court in the Terror Funding case filed in 2017.
