sesame oil is beneficial
Ayurveda expert Kiran Gupta says that sesame oil is most effective in protecting the child from cold and cough in winter. The nature of sesame oil is hot, due to which it provides warmth to the child’s body. Apart from this, Vitamin E, calcium, magnesium and powerful antioxidants are found in it, which help in increasing blood circulation and making the muscles strong. You can slightly heat sesame oil and apply it on the palm, soles and chest of the child.
Mustard Oil Massage
Many mothers massage their babies with baby oil bought from the market. But in winter season only local oils are considered best. Mustard oil is a good option for this. It provides natural warmth to the body, which significantly reduces the risk of catching cold. Antibacterial and antifungal properties are also found in it, which provide protection from cold and cough. Massage the child with mustard oil in the morning and then take him out in the sun for some time.
Coconut oil is also a good option
Kiran Gupta has also described coconut oil as beneficial. She says that if sesame oil does not suit the child then you can also use coconut oil. It helps in keeping the body warm in winter. To use it, heat it slightly and massage the baby. It softens the baby’s skin and its antiviral properties provide protection from infections.
