If your money is also stuck in Sahara schemes and you are waiting for a refund for a long time, then there is good news for you. The Supreme Court has issued a big order in the Sahara refund case and has allowed the release of additional amount of ₹ 5000 crore from SEBI-Sahara Fund.

Its direct benefit will be given to lakhs of investors whose money was still pending.

What is the order of the Supreme Court? The Supreme Court bench of Justice Surya Kant and Justice Joymalya Bagchi gave this decision while accepting the application of the Central Government. Under this: An amount of ₹5000 crore will be released from SEBI-Sahara Escrow Account. This amount will be given to the genuine investors who have invested money in the four cooperative societies of Sahara Group. The distribution of the amount will be under the supervision of the Registrar of Central Cooperative Societies, who will make the payment after verifying the eligible investors.

Refund last date also extended The court has also extended the last date of distribution. Now investors can claim their money till 31 December 2026. Earlier this deadline was till December 2025.

How much has been refunded so far? According to central government data: About 5.43 crore investors have claimed more than ₹1.13 lakh crore. So far, more than 2.62 lakh depositors have received a total amount of ₹5,053 crore back. More than 13 lakh claims are still under investigation.

Former judge will keep an eye on the payment The Supreme Court has also directed that the entire distribution work be done by former judge R. This should be done under the supervision of Subhash Reddy. The concerned registrar will have to transfer this amount within a week.
