New Delhi: Union Minister Giriraj Singh on Friday declared that the coalition’s political focus is now shifting to West Bengal. His remarks came after the NDA crossed its majority mark comfortably that drove it to another term in the state.
“Bihar had decided that a government of anarchy would not be formed. The youth of Bihar are intelligent. This is the victory of development. We have won Bihar. Now it is Bengal’s turn,” Singh said, adding that the mandate also showed that the people rejected “chaos, corruption, and loot.”

He also asserted that even though today’s youth may not have experienced previous periods of instability, “their elders did.” He also said that Tejashwi Yadav’s stint in the government had reminded people of “disorder.”
As of the latest Election Commission data, the BJP-led NDA is ahead in 160 seats, well above the 122-seat majority mark in the 243-member assembly. The Mahagathbandhan, led by Tejashwi Yadav’s Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), is leading in 78 seats.
Exit polls had broadly predicted an NDA victory with most projections that had indicated that the BJP would emerge as the single party. A combined estimate of nine exit polls suggested the NDA winning around 147 seats. The Mahagathbandhan was however, predicted to secure about 90 seats. The RJD’s projected tally is between 57 and 69 that signalled a decline from its previous tally of 75 seats. The Congress that contested on fewer seats this time was forecast to drop from 19 to around 14.
Amid the celebrations within the NDA’s ranks, the BJP’s Bengal unit posted on X (formerly, Twitter), “Next: West Bengal.🪷”
