Nitish Kumar’s public trust remains intact even after almost two decades
This election was being considered as a ‘test’ for Nitish Kumar. In the last few years, he had to face changing political equations, fatigue and allegations from the opposition. But today’s trends are proving again that their grip on the land has not loosened.
Today, the public again seems to be accepting the promise that Nitish Kumar, once known as ‘Good Governance Babu’, had made to take Bihar out of the image of Jungle Raj.
Modi-Nitish duo became the biggest strength of NDA
This time the BJP-JDU alliance appeared stronger and organized than before. Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s popularity and Nitish Kumar’s grassroots understanding together gave edge to the alliance. Modi-Nitish kept development, law and order, social security, empowerment of women and providing benefits of government schemes to every village at the forefront in their campaign. NDA leaders argue that the people of Bihar voted for stability this time too.
From 1985 to 2025: Election violence ends, Bihar is giving a new message
This time NDA has also made a big claim regarding the election process. Bihar elections have been associated with violence, threats and re-polling for the past several decades:
- 1985 elections: 63 deaths, repoll at 156 booths
- 1990 elections: 87 deaths
- 1995 elections: Dates changed four times, heavy violence
- 2005 elections: Repoll at 660 booths
But in 2025 assembly elections: No repoll, no violence. This NDA is considering it as an achievement of better law and order.
2014 to 2025: Bihar continuously with BJP-NDA
2014, 2019 and 2024 in Lok Sabha elections… 2020 in Assembly elections and now 2025—Bihar is repeating a pattern. According to political analysts, this is the result of a clear message to the public: vote for development, reject instability.
Cultural identity also became a big election issue
NDA accused INDI alliance of disrespecting the cultural identity of Bihar. Rahul Gandhi was targeted for his comments on Chhath Puja, while the NDA prominently publicized Prime Minister Modi’s efforts to include Chhath festival in UNESCO’s Intangible Heritage List.
Nitish Kumar’s journey: four decades, many turns, but hold on
Nitish Kumar, who started his political journey with the JP movement, learned from leaders like Satyendra Narayan Sinha, Ram Manohar Lohia, VP Singh and Karpoori Thakur. His political style—balance, development and social inclusion—continues to keep him popular. Decisions like women empowerment, rural roads, scholarships, cycle scheme and old age pension have given Nitish a permanent base of votes.
