New Delhi: Bihar will get to know on Friday, whom the voters have chosen. The results of the 2-phase Assembly Elections are being declared today. Counting is currently underway in the state and final results are expected to be clear by this evening. It is now almost clear that the National Democratic Alliance will return to power in the state.
However even then, there are some seats which are being keenly watched by everyone. These include Raghopur constituency, from where RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav is contesting, the Tarapur constituency from where BJP’s Samrat Choudhary is trying his luck this year and names like Anant Singh and Maithili Thakur.
Live updates from across constituencies of Bihar
– Madhepura constituency: RJD’s Chandrasekhar is trailing from this seat. Janata Dal (United) leader Kavota Kumari is leading on this seat by 2079 votes.
– Raghopur constituency: Tejashwi Yadav is leading in this constituency by 585 votes. His closest rival is BJP’s Satish Kumar.
– In Mahua, Tej Pratap Yadav of the Janshakti Janata Dal is continuously trailing. He has just managed to garner 3172 votes
– In Mokama, JD(U)’s Anant Singh is ahead with a margin of over 9,000 votes. He continued to lead over rival candidate Bina Devi.
– In Alinagar, BJP’s Maithili Thakur is leading with 8544 votes after 6 rounds of counting was completed.
Raghopur Assembly Constituency
Tejashwi Yadav is contesting from his family bastion of Raghopur. He is hoping to win the seat for a third time straight. BJP’s Satish Kumar managed to win the seat in the 2010 elections, but he lost both the 2015 Assembly Elections and the 2020 elections to the RJD leader.
Tarapur Assembly Constituency
BJP’s Samrat Choudhary, who is also the Deputy CM of Bihar is contesting from Tarapur Assembly constituency. This was a traditional JD(U) stronghold. This seat is important for Choudhary as his parents have earlier fought the elections from the constituency.
RJD has once again fielded Arun Kumar Shah, who lost the last elections from the seat with a slim margin.
Current trends show that Choudhary is leading the vote count from this seat. He is closely trailing the RJD’s Arun Kumar. Jan Suraaj Party’s Santosh Kumar Singh is trailing at the fourth spot from this seat.
Alinagar Assembly Constituency
The entry of famous playback singer from Bihar Maithili Thakur in politics, through the Alinagar seat has made it one of the most talked about constituencies in the state. She is up against RJD candidate In this seat, which was won by VIP in 2020, Thakur is now pitted against VIP ally and RJD’s Vinod Mishra, who finished second in the last election.
Trends so far indicate that Thakur is leading from Alinagar seat. After the first round of counting, RJD’s candidate was at the second spit while Jan Suraaj candidate, Biplab Kumar Choudhary was at the third spot.
Mahua Assembly Constituency
The Mahua Assembly seat was in the news as former RJD leader and founder of JJP, Tej Pratap Yadav was contesting from here. His opponent from this seat is RJD’s Dr Mukesh Roshan. LJP (R) leader Sanjay Kumar Singh and Jan Suraaj candidate Indrajit Pradhan are giving a tough fight to Tej Pratap Yadav.
Tej Pratap is nowhere in the race and the fight is being led by LJP and RJD candidates as of now. Tej Pratap is trailing at fourth spot from this seat.
Chhapra Assembly Constituency
The fight in Chhapra had become interesting with the entry of Bhojpuri filmstar Khesari Lal Yadav in the political race. He is contesting on an RJD ticket. BJP, meanwhile has fielded Chhoti Kumari, who had won the seat in 2010. The party is hoping for a good result this time too.
THe BJP candidate, Kumari was leading after the first round of counting from this seat. Jan Suraaj candidate Jai Prakash Singh is trailing at the fourth spot from this seat.
Mokama Assembly Constituency
JD(U) has fielded Anant Singh from Mokama. He is accused in the murder of a Jan Suraaj supporter. He is considered to be one of the ‘Bahubali’ leaders from the state and has changed his political affiliations several times. He has however managed to win all elections since 2010. He has contested on an RJD ticket, JD(U) ticket and even as an Independent and managed to win each time.
Madhepura Assembly Constituency
RJD leader Chandrasekhar is the current MLA from Madhepura seat. No non-Yadav has ever managed to win from this seat and this area is considered to be a stronghold for this caste. Even today the local people repeat the saying, “Rome belongs to the Pope, Madhepura belongs to the Gop.”
RJD’s Chandrasekhar is hoping to win this seat for a record fourth term. JD(U) meanwhile has fielded Kavta Saha, who is the first woman and also the first non-Yadav candidate from this seat.
