Bumrah’s unmatched performance (Photo: pti)
India vs South Africa: Jasprit Bumrah has made a strong start to his bowling in the first Test against South Africa. The result of that strong performance was that as soon as the play of the first session of the first day ended, he made a big record in his name. And, with that he did what no other bowler could do in the last 7 years. Bumrah has made this record by misleading the opposing openers.
Bumrah broke the record
Simply put, in the last 7 years, Jasprit Bumrah has emerged as a legend in Test cricket for openers around the world. From 2018 till now, he has dismissed the opposition openers the maximum number of times in this format. During this period, earlier this record was in the name of Stuart Broad of England, who had dismissed the openers 12 times.
But, on the first day of the Kolkata Test against South Africa, in his first spell of the first innings, Bumrah not only uprooted both the opposing openers from the crease but also broke Stuart Broad’s record. This was the 13th time in the Test, when Bumrah had dismissed the opener.
This is how both the openers were hunted.
Jasprit Bumrah first clean bowled Ryan Rickleton. Then Aiden Markram was caught behind the wicket. During the first wicket, the power of his brilliant ball was seen, the speed of which was more than 140 kilometers per hour. So in the second wicket, the first tremendous catch of Rishabh Pant after his return from injury was seen. Bumrah hunted the South African openers by giving away 9 runs in 7 overs in his first spell. During this he bowled 4 overs of maidens.
