Rajaji Tiger Reserve opens for tourists tomorrow, Jungle Safari to start in Chila and Motichur range

Haridwar: The wait is finally over for wildlife lovers. Rajaji Tiger Reserve will open its gates to tourists from Saturday, November 15. The park administration has completed all preparations, and jungle safaris will begin in the Chila and Motichur ranges, known for their natural beauty and rich wildlife.

The gates will be opened after a puja (worship) ceremony, marking the start of the tourist season. Every year, visitors from across India and abroad come to Rajaji to enjoy the jungle safari and see wild animals in their natural habitat.

This national park is home to over 600 elephants

Tourists can spot a variety of animals during the safari, including elephants, leopards, deer, chital (spotted deer), sambar, and peacocks. According to Motichur Range Officer Mahesh Semwal, the park is home to over 600 elephants, white sambar, and even tigers, which have been translocated to the Motichur range.

To make the visit easier for tourists, a special ticket counter is being built in the Motichur range. It will be ready soon and will help manage the crowd and ticketing process smoothly.

No change in entry fees this year

There is no change in the entry fee this year. Indian tourists will pay Rs 150, while foreign tourists will pay Rs 600. For vehicles, the fee is Rs 250 for Indian vehicles and Rs 500 for foreign vehicles. Students will get a 50% discount on the entry fee. If tourists wish to stay in the Forest Rest House, the fee is Rs 1000. For those carrying commercial cameras, the fee is Rs 500.

Illegal vehicles are banned in Motichur range

To protect wildlife and ensure safety, the park administration has banned illegal vehicles in the Motichur range. Only registered vehicles and those with taxi numbers will be allowed to take tourists on jungle safaris. Vehicle registration is mandatory for entry.
