Myth: Diabetics patients need special food.
Fact: If a person has diabetes, he can control the amount of sugar in the blood by eating home-made food. He just has to make good choices in his food. Therefore, leaving aside the fancy diabetic foods available in the market, you can eat foods with less fat and sugar.
Myth: Fruits contain sugar, so diabetic patients should not consume them.
Fact: Often people have the wrong information that diabetic patients should stay away from fruits, whereas this is not correct. Fruits contain natural sugar and it is less in comparison to cakes, biscuits, sweets. Fruits also contain fibers along with other nutrients. You can consume fruits after consulting a doctor.
Myth: Eating too much sugar causes type 1 diabetes.
Fact: This is absolutely wrong. Type 1 diabetes is not caused by diet or lifestyle. When the insulin-producing cells in the pancreas are destroyed by the immune system, type 1 diabetes occurs. It has nothing to do with food.

Myth: Type 2 diabetes patients can never touch anything sweet.
Fact: Often people think that if they have diabetes, they cannot eat any kind of sweets. Whereas this is wrong. Despite having diabetes, you can still include sweet things in your life but in controlled quantity. Products with natural sugar should be used. Eating sweets increases the level of sugar in the blood. If your diabetes is often under control, you can eat sweets occasionally but definitely ask your doctor about it.
Myth: Diabetes can be completely cured.
Fact: Many people have the misconception that diabetes can be completely cured, whereas this is not true. The symptoms of diabetes can be managed but it is not possible to eradicate the disease from its roots.
