Two phases of voting in Bihar Assembly Elections 2025 have been completed and now the counting of votes on November 14 is awaited. Before the results, while who will go to power is a big question, people’s curiosity is also focused on another issue that this time, who is the richest candidate in the electoral fray?
The assets of the candidates have been assessed on the basis of their affidavits, which have been analyzed by ADR. Interestingly, the average asset among more than 2600 candidates came out to be Rs 3.35 crore, but the top 10 candidates are many times ahead of this average.
VIP’s Ran Kaushal Pratap is at the forefront
Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP) candidate from Lauria seat, Ran Kaushal Pratap, has emerged as the richest face of this election. His declared total wealth is more than Rs 368 crore. On this seat of West Champaran, his wealth has left all the other candidates far behind.
Guruya’s Nitish Kumar at second place
Nitish Kumar of Rashtriya Lok Janshakti Party (RLJP) is at second position from Gurua seat of Gaya district. He has registered assets worth more than Rs 250 crore. His name continues to remain in the election discussion.
Kumar Pranay of Munger is at third position.
BJP candidate Kumar Prannoy is contesting from Munger seat and his net worth is more than Rs 170 crore. He is included in the list of top three richest candidates and his financial condition has attracted a lot of attention in electoral circles.
The wealth of the next seven candidates also runs into crores.
The assets of the candidates from fourth to tenth place are also many times more than that of the general candidates. These names are included in these.
- JDU’s Anant Kumar Singh (Mokama) has assets worth around Rs 100 crore.
- JDU’s Dr. Kumar Pushpanjay (Barbigha) has assets worth Rs 94 crore.
- JDU’s Manorama Devi (Belaganj) has assets worth Rs 75 crore.
- RJD’s Deepak Yadav (Narkatiyaganj) has assets worth Rs 70 crore.
- RJD’s Dev Kumar Chaurasia (Hajipur) has assets worth around Rs 68 crore.
- Independent Rajeev Ranjan (Jagdishpur) has assets worth Rs 63 crore.
- The assets of Neeraj Singh (Shivhar) of Jan Suraj Party are around Rs 58 crore.
More than 2600 candidates – 1081 crorepatis!
An interesting thing in this election is that out of the total candidates, 1081 candidates are crorepatis. That means almost every third candidate has assets worth crores. There are 393 candidates in the fray with assets worth more than Rs 5 crore, which constitutes about 15 percent of the total number.
Which party fielded the most crorepatis?
Talking about parties, Jan Suraj Party is at the forefront and 167 of its 231 candidates are crorepatis. Whereas RJD has 127 crorepatis out of 140. JDU has 92 crorepati candidates out of 101 and BJP has fielded 88 crorepati candidates out of 101.
