The political stir in Patna on Friday morning was many times more intense than usual. The atmosphere before the results was such that every party seemed to be fully prepared regarding their expectations. Meanwhile, senior Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Mrityunjay Tiwari claimed that the public has decided for change and the formation of the Grand Alliance government is certain.
RJD leader said, NDA’s departure is certain
Talking to the media, Mrityunjay Tiwari said that the people of Bihar have given a clear mandate to secure their future. He said, “We have full confidence that the Grand Alliance will form the government. This time the people have voted for development and future. The departure of NDA is certain and the results will be in our favor.”

Counting of votes started at 8 am, security tight
Counting of votes for 243 assembly seats in the state has started at 8 am. Heavy security arrangements have been made at counting centers in Patna, Gaya and other districts. Security personnel deployed on election duty have reached the centers since morning.
Record turnout in both phases, highest since 1951
This time Bihar created a new history in voting. Voting in the second phase was 69.20%, the highest ever in the electoral history of the state. Overall, the average turnout in both the phases was 67.13%, which is the highest since 1951. 65.06% voting was recorded in the first phase.
Main contest NDA vs Grand Alliance
This time too the battle for Bihar was between two big alliances—-
- National Democratic Alliance (NDA): BJP, JDU, Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Hindustani Awam Morcha (Se), Rashtra Lok Morcha
- Grand Alliance: RJD, Congress, CPI-ML, CPI, CPM, Vikassheel Insaan Party (VIP)
Apart from this, Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraj Party also registered its contest in this election field.
NDA’s lead in exit polls, but excitement remains among parties
According to exit polls, NDA may return to power once again. However, the Grand Alliance disagrees with these estimates and is claiming that the ground reality is completely different. Now all eyes are on the counting of votes, where within a few hours it will become clear whose government is going to be formed in Bihar.
